The fizz in sparkling wines can be achieved by a variety of methods depending on the style of wine required. The most famous sparkling wine is of course Champagne. Only sparkling wine from the Champagne region of France can be called Champagne. An interesting fact is that some Champagnes and sparkling wines are made from black grape varieties even though the finished wine is white!
